Abstract

Siddha system is more unique in its own way as besides treating the diseases in a natural way it rather focusses on preventing diseases by teaching life style manners, seasonal manners etc,. The so called measures are not followed effectively today, because of the impact of westernized culture. So the prevalence of diseases goes on increasing Of those Madhumegam is one among with high prevalence and incidence In Siddha classical literature “Theraiyar Mahakarisal” in which the saint Theraiyar clearly mentioned the lifestyle changes which causes diseases and under the title ‘Noiyinurpathi’. So this study will focus on Madhumegam to generate focused and crisp report. OBJECTIVES: To describe the lifestyle risks in patients with Madhumegam attending Out Patient Department, Government Siddha Medical College, Palayamkottai METHODOLOGY: Questionnaire aided interview from the patients (Average of  10 – 15 minutes was taken for each interview). The study was started only after getting official permission from the screening committee of college. The investigator directly collected data from Madhumegam patients attending Out Patient. The questionnaire was designed based on a siddha classical literature  “Theraiyar Mahakarisal” under the title  ‘Noiyinurpathi’ and the data was collected and  statistical analysis was done with help of Microsoft excel 2010. RESULT: The result of Strong positive correlation of objective variables provides a strong evidence for the theory. According to this survey, most of the patients who had been suffered maximum due to skipping of morning food, high intake of junk foods and irregular sleeping manner and increased stress level as said in literatures. According to this study, we have to educate the habitual manners among the society and we have to conduct some awareness programmes for the public.
