Main Article Content
Abstract
Background : The Sandamarthanda Chendooram is a mineral combination of medicine used for the treatment of Paarisa vayu and Sanni.
Objectives: To characterize the mineral drug “Sandamarthanda Chendooram”
Materials and Methods: The ingredients such as Pooram, Lingam, Rasa Chendooram. The drugs were prepared as per Siddha literature “Koshayi Anuboga Vaithiya Bramma Ragasiyam”. The drugs were analysed by using FTIR spectrum
Result: FTIR Characterization shows the presence of some functional group such as alcohol, carboxylic acid, carbon–di-oxide, d -lactone, Nitrocompound, Flurocompound, Sulfoxide, 1,2,3 trisubstituted, alkylhalides and halo compounds. Where identified in Siddha mineral formulation. “Sandamarthanda Chendooram”. This study forms the base for the pharmaceutical analysis of Sandamarthanda Chendooram which will be followed by safety and efficacy studies later.
Conclusion: The instrumental analysis FTIR study for Sandamarthanda Chendooram shows the presence of functional groups through the stretch and bends which responsible for its functional activity.
