Abstract
Plants have always been a common source of medicament either in the form of traditional preparations or pure active principles. Majority of the world population depends on herbal health care practices. This review covers the basic botanical informations, therapeutic actions, phytochemistry, traditional uses and clinical pharmacology from siddha system of medicine.Cleistanthuscollinus, a toxic shrub, is used for deliberate self-harm in rural South India. This review covers the basic botanical informations, therapeutic actions, phytochemistry, traditional uses , toxic symptoms and clinical pharmacology from siddha system of medicine.
